Difference Between A Good Survey And A Bad Survey - 941 Words

Introduction There are surveys all the time around us, either when we go to a store where they ask you if you can take a survey, or if you are online on Facebook where they ask you to participant in different surveys. To be a better consumer of surveys and to try understand what we can get from it, it is important for us to know the difference between a good survey and a bad survey. Methods In this research paper I went online and found two different surveys that had the same topic in their questions. I looked on the proposition 8 that the U.S. Supreme Court had handed down regarding same sex marriage in California. The reason I choose this poll was because many of the misunderstanding the people had when they voted. I got this information from Kathy Griffin series â€Å"My life on the D-list†, where she went with the organization â€Å"Vote for Equality† in California to personally go door to door and ask people what they voted and why or why not they where against gay marriage. The second survey I looked up online was the LGBT Americans regarding the attitudes, experience and values in changing times. What kinds of questions were asked and if this was a good or bad survey. I agree with the three assumptions that are underlying in the labor relations process, in the United States. This is because there has always been a conflict of interest in the economic system with the employees and employers struggling to meet and advance their own self interests (Wolters, et al 7). Essentially, most of the interests of the employees are done through the collective bargain process as they seek to advance on their salaries, working conditions and the security of their jobs. On the other hand, the employers seek to maximize their returns on the capital invested, as well as, improving their economic status. However, thinking from the employees perspective, employers need to understand the employees with more cautiousness than they have done in these assumptions. They should give them the freedom to be in unions and include them in most of the decision-making p rocess of the organizations because organizations cannot operate without a workforce. Unions are still important and relevant in today s labor relations because of the conflict of interest between the employers and the employees continually exist. Olaudah Equiano s Influence On African Diaspora History

In 1745, Olaudah Equiano was born in Eboe, which is now Nigeria. When he was about eleven years old, he was kidnapped and sold to slave traders heading to the West Indies. Though he spent a short time in the state of Virginia, much of his time in slavery was spent serving the captains of slave ships and British navy vessels. One of his masters, Henry Pascal, the captain of a British trading vessel, gave him the name Gustavas Vassa, which he hardly used throughout his life. Paul Lovejoy, Canada Research Chair in African Diaspora History stated: He claims that when his master, Michael Henry Pascal, gave him the name Gustavus Vassa at age 12 while crossing the Atlantic in 1754, he ‘refused to be called so.’ He apparently had not objected to the names he had been given earlier – Michael on board the slave ship, and then Jacob in Virginia – and he could not possibly have known who his namesake was in 1754 (Lovejoy). One would say that his obvious lack of enthusiasm is perhaps a literary device to make the point that his fate was already made. Through many years, he worked and made enough money to buy his freedom. He married and had two daughters. In 1797, he died in London.
